Here are the answers to some of our most popular questions:

Q: How do I get started? 

A: New Clients: Your complimentary initial “Meet & Greet” consultation is the first step before the scheduling of pet sitting services. This is an opportunity for us meet you and to interact with your pet(s)and answer any questions you may have.
During this time we will discuss pet routines, care instructions and complete necessary forms.
At this time we will pick up 2 keys and take your reservation payment. We require 2 keys, 1 for the Primary Sitter and 1 for the Back-up Sitter. We ask that you provide 2 keys at the Meet & Greet. If only 1 key is provided, there will be a $20 service fee for our time and travel to the hardware store to make duplicate key.

Information we will collect at the consultation:

  • Veterinarian contact information
  • Any health problems and/or medications required by your pets
  • Location of your pet’s favorite toys, collar and leash, ID tags, pooper scoopers, litter boxes, cat litter disposal bags and cleaning supplies and of course their favorite hiding places!
  • Personal contact information
  • Emergency contact information
  • Gate codes / security codes for pet sitter access to house

Q: Can’t I just hide a key or leave you my garage door opener or code?

A: Due to liability and safety concerns, we cannot accept assignments with hidden keys as the primary form of home access. Garage door codes can be given as a secondary form of access; but not the sole one, in the event the garage breaks, power goes out, dead batteries, etc. As always, the safety and well being of your pets come first, and if we can’t get to them, we can’t care for them.

Q: What becomes of my keys?

A: Loving Care Pet Sitters LLC offers a “Ready Key Program” designed for the busy pet owner who travels frequently for business or pleasure. Sometimes your work or busy schedule does not allow you a lot of notice, or perhaps you are too busy and simply overlook making a pet sitting reservation.

  • Participating in this program makes it easier for Loving Care Pet Services LLC to accept shorter notice reservation requests.
  • For your security, all keys that are not currently in use are stored in a locking key safe in our office.
  • These keys are coded, and do not have your name or address on them.
  • When enrolled in our Ready Key Program, we will keep keys on file for future visits.
  • You may request the return of your keys at any time.

Another advantage of the Ready Key Program is that if you are ever locked out of your home, we can get you back in much easier & cheaper than calling a locksmith!

Q: Are there a minimum number of visits per day required for vacation reservations?

A: Please note that for vacation pet sitting assignments we provide a minimum of: 

  •  Cats require a minimum of 1 visit per day.
    Please do not ask for “every other day” visits for cats, we do not feel comfortable leaving cats unattended for more than 24 hours in case they get into difficulties or have urgent health issues. (UTI, etc).
  •  Dogs require a minimum of 2-4 visits per day.
    Please do not ask for less than 2 visits per day for dogs (unless 24/7 secure access to the outside is available for them).  

Q: Can I have a friend or neighbor look in on my pets while using your service?

A: Loving Care Pet Sitters LLC  does not accept pet sitting assignments where you have also asked someone else to check in or care for your pet(s) during the same time period that we are performing requested services. Our insurance and bonding policies cover  Loving Care Pet Sitters LLC  personnel only, and other people entering your premises during our assignment compromises our insurance and liability.

Hiring a professional pet sitter is very different from hiring a neighbor or friend to care for your pets!

Your friends/neighbors may have the best of intentions, but they are not a professional and do not think like a professional pet sitter. I have heard story after story of disasters that happened with beloved pets because the neighbor/friend “forgot” to go or did something that was detrimental to the pet(s) heath or well being. Recently it resulted in a $1300 vet bill and near loss of the client’s dog. Of course, it is never intentional, but mistakes happen. You wouldn’t ask a friend or neighbor to clean your teeth, or fix your plumbing, unless they were a professional, right? Why would you trust anyone less than a professional to care for those you value most?

My company is based on the belief that my customer’s and the needs of their pets are of the utmost importance. I am committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of my business is from repeat customers and referrals. I will not put your pets or my company at unnecessary risk.

Q: Do you charge additional fees for weekends or holidays?

A: We do not charge extra for weekends. On the following holidays, a $25  flat fee (not  per visit) will be added to each holiday: 

Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day.

Q: How much advanced notice must I give before making my reservation?

A: We take great pride in the flexibility of our pet sitters. We know emergencies and last-minute trips are a part of life and have a wonderful track record of successfully placing last-minute reservations. However, the more notice you provide, the better we can match you with the ideal sitter. Plus, we do not charge any additional fees for last minute reservations.

Q: What if I don’t make it back from my trip on time?

A: We respectfully require you to notify us upon your return. If we don’t hear from you, we call you. If we still don’t hear from you, we continue our services until you return. The pets ALWAYS come first.

Q: What types of payment are accepted and when is payment due?

A: We accept cash & checks, Paypal and all major credit cards. It is customary in the pet sitting industry for all service payments to be made prior to service commencement on each occasion. After your initial in-person meeting with your sitter, payment in full of the total is required, to hold your reservation. 

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: We give a full refund if you notify us at least 3 days prior to your pet’s next visit date. Change of service dates, service locations, early returns or cancellations require at least 3 days prior notice. You can request a cancellation on the online scheduling system, by phone, email or text notification. For any changes in services, early returns or cancellations with less than 3 days notification, client will be charged in full for those days visits.
